Waste Reduction
Music City Center sustainability efforts include not only reducing energy consumption but also reducing waste.
Waste reduction is achieved through recycling, donating, and composting unwanted or unused materials. Paper, plastic, and aluminum are among the list of items recycled daily. Leftover food is donated to local community partners, including Nashville Rescue Mission, while food scraps are composted through a local partnership. Unused event materials are often donated to benefit local organizations.
Efforts are also made to reduce waste on the frontend of events.
The facility is cleaned with an all-purpose cleaner comprised of only water, salt, and electricity. Plant-based laundry detergent and bowl cleaner are also used whenever possible.
The Music City Center kitchen utilizes regionally sourced vendors, including honey harvested from beehives on our rooftop.
Event organizers are also encouraged to use digital advertising to reduce paper waste.
Diverting waste from landfills helps reduce the building’s carbon footprint.
