FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 11, 2014

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Convention Center Authority voted this morning to grant Spectrum/Emery Development, LLC an extension on the memorandum of understanding and extend the exclusivity agreement until January 31, 2015. The memorandum of understanding naming Spectrum/Emery as the master developer of the Nashville Convention Center site was entered into on January 9, 2014.

"We have been in active discussions with Spectrum/Emery and they are working diligently on finalizing plans," said Charles Starks, President/CEO of the Music City Center. "We are very pleased with the progress they have made and think the extension will give them ample time to pull everything together."

The Authority also announced last month's numbers for the Music City Center. During the month of August, the Music City Center hosted 28 events with 23,045 attendees, generating 28,076 room nights for a total of $17.8 million in economic impact. Tax collections continue to outperform projections and the Music City Center portion of tax collections was up 17.98 percent year over year for June 2014.

Fiscal year 2014 was a record year for hotel tax collections and June 2014 broke the record for the highest monthly collections for a single month in the city's history.
