'It's unhealthy for everyone': Could conflict with state risk Nashville's success?
The Tennessean, February 17, 2023
Nashville is a blue city in a red state. Does that explain its economic success? And could tension between the city and state put that all at risk?
Last August, Nashville's Metro Council voted overwhelmingly against hosting the 2024 Republican National Convention, citing concerns about potential violence.
“I do think that sends a bad message, that Nashville wasn’t willing to host this group. If you look at our top-competing cities, every one of them is a blue city in a red state: Atlanta, Indianapolis, New Orleans, Dallas, San Antonio, and Orlando. We’re built to accommodate," said Charles Starks, president, and CEO of Music City Center.
