MUSIC CITY CENTER CELEBRATES CULINARY ARTS APPRENTICESHIP
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Music City Center is celebrating its Culinary Arts Apprenticeship program by spotlighting its newest apprentice in a video feature.
Keon Buchanan is currently enrolled in a two-year culinary apprenticeship. The program is a partnership between Nashville State Community College and Music City Center. The video documents Buchanan’s progress after six months on the job.
“We’re excited to have Keon on board,” said Music City Center President and Chief Executive Officer Charles Starks. “This video shows the mutually beneficial relationship we have with this program. We’re ready to welcome more culinary stars like Keon.”
The program is a collaborative effort, spearheaded by Music City Center Executive Chef Max Knoepfel and other chefs in the greater Nashville area who worked with the college’s School of Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management to initiate the program in 2014.
Today, the apprenticeship program is recognized by the American Culinary Federation, providing on-the-job learning for students interested in becoming a certified sous chef or culinarian. The program is also registered with the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training.
“There is no better place to train than right here at Music City Center,” added Starks. “We have a richly diverse team who can prepare anything from quick meals to fine dining and serve anyone from intimate gatherings to large scale events.”
The video produced by Music City Center is designed to bring awareness to the program, which is available to students enrolled at NSCC.
