FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 19, 2015
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Convention Center Authority announced the appointment of a new member, Renata Soto. Soto was appointed by Mayor Karl Dean and confirmed by Metro Council last night.
Renata Soto is the co-founder and Executive Director of Conexion Americas. She was born in Costa Rica and started her nonprofit career as Community Relations Coordinator for the Latin American Association. Once in Nashville, Soto worked for the United Way of Metropolitan Nashville before founding Conexion Americas, a nonprofit dedicated to helping Nashville's Latino population. In the years since, Conexion has launched Casa Azafran, a community center on Nolensville Road for immigrants of all backgrounds.
"Renata has generously served the Nashville community for years and we are excited to have her on the board," said Charles Starks, President/CEO of the Music City Center. "Her ability to bridge communities is much like that of her predecessor, Francis Guess, and we look forward to having her valuable insight and expertise."
